President, Dato’ Zainal Abu Zarin at IPC Regions' Council
Meeting in Bonn

The International
Paralympic Committee (IPC) Regions’ Council held its
annual meeting in Bonn, Germany, on 23 June 2007.
Representatives
of the different IPC Regions’ took part in the meeting,
including Council Chairperson Andrew Parsons from the Americas
Paralympic Committee, Dr. Nabil Salem and Dr. Hossam Eldin
Mostafa from the African Sports Confederation for Disabled,
Dato Zainal Abu Zarin from the Asian Paralympic Committee,
Ioanna Karyofylli from the European Paralympic Committee and
Paul Bird from the Oceania Paralympic Committee. IPC CEO Xavier
Gonzalez, IPC Membership Relations Manager Sabine Mikulas
and IPC Development Manager Amy Farkas also attended the meeting.
The Council discussed
Region relevant topics such as terms and conditions for Regional
Championships and Games and accreditation entitlements of
the Regions for the Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games.
The IPC Regions’
Council, established in 2006, provides a forum for exchange
of information on matters of common interest. It advises the
IPC Governing Board in relevant matters and assists in the
development of IPC Policies and the Strategic Plan. It helps
to protect and deliver the IPC Vision and Mission and protect
the diversity of the Movement.
