APC's delegation to Vancouver

KUALA LUMPUR – Asian Paralympic Committee (APC) President Dato’ Zainal Abu Zarin, Secretary-General Ms Malini and APC Sports Coordinator Billy Lee, will be attending the Winter Paralympics in Vancouver this week.

The 2010 Vancouver Winter Paralympics is scheduled from March 12-21.

The delegation from APC will be in Vancouver from March 9 to 21.

While Dato Zainal will be in Vancouver as member of the IPC Governing Board, Ms Malini and Billy Lee are travelling under the IPC’s Observers Programme banner.

The IPC Observers’ Programme provide participants with insights and hands-on experience on the organisation of the Games, in particular the vital aspects of the Games including management and administration, logistic, competition, accommodation, accessibility, media exposure, sports and other technical areas.

Asia’s interest in the Games is also due to the fact that APC is seriously gearing itself for the Asia Open Winter Para Games slated in 2013, which was mooted by Dato’ Zainal himself. The Asia Open Winter Para Games is expected to draw new interests and create huge awareness on paralympic sports in the continent.

Dato Zainal is also attending the 55th IPC Governing Board Meeting scheduled in March 10 in Vancouver.
