Coordination Commission Meeting of the Asian Para Games gets
underway in Guangzhou

GUANGZHOU,
May 10 -- The 3rd Coordination Commission Meeting of the Guangzhou
2010 Asian Para Games gets underway at the Guangzhou Asian
Para Games Organising Committee (GAPGOC) headquarters here
today.
The two-day
meeting, which started off yesterday, is aimed at coordinating
preparation work and overcoming pending issues on the Asian
Para Games scheduled in December.
Heading
the delegation from the Asian Paralympic Committee (APC) in
the meeting was President Datuk Zainal Abu Zarin and secretary
general Ms. Malini Rajasegaran.
GAPGOC
was represented by its Deputy Secretary General of GAPCOC
Gu Shiyang and top officials from the organizing committee.
APC is
also working hand in hand with the International Paralympic
Committee (IPC) on various aspects of the Games including
venues coordination, classification, media management and
operations and sports coordination.
The first
day of the meeting saw various presentations by top officials
on progress of various departments in GAPGOC.
APC president
Datuk Zainal was pleased with the outcome of the first day
meeting, congratulating GAPCOC and saying that the organizing
committee had conducted comprehensive preparation on the Games.
He said, all infrastructures are in place, adding that GAPGOC
is heading in the right direction in making the Games as benchmark
in future Games.
“Various
pending issues were settled and I’m happy that GAPGOC
is doing everything in its capacity to ensure the smooth organization
of the Games,” said Datuk Zainal.
