Commission Reviews Progress in Guangzhou

The first Co-ordination
Commission for the Guangzhou 2010 Asian Para Games took place
in Guangzhou, China, on 10 June.
In what coincided
with the 550-day countdown to the Para Games, the meeting
was held together with the Asian Paralympic Committee (APC).
The fruitful exchange of information included updates from
the Committee on the preparations for the Games, as well as
the general progress of areas like accessibility.
The workshop was
hosted by Deputy Secretary General of Guangzhou and the Guangzhou
Asian Para Games Organizing Committee (GAPGOC) Gu Shiyang,
with attendees including International Paralympic Committee
(IPC) Chief Executive Officer Xavier Gonzalez, President of
the APC Dato Zainal Abu Zarin, and Vice President and Secretary
General of the National Paralympic Committee of China Jia
Yong.
During the event,
the launch of the official website of the Guangzhou 2010 Asian
Para Games was also announced, marking that the preparations
for the Games have entered a new stage. As one of the most
important platforms for the Games' news releases, the website
will provide information of the Games at different stages
of preparation and serve as the most convenient channel for
the world to keep updated with the Games.
There are three
versions of the website (simplified Chinese, traditional Chinese
and English), which meet the particular needs of many different
users. Additionally, the website is divided into various sections,
which include News, Competition, Venues, Volunteers and information
about the host city.
