President and APC Games Liaison Committee Visit Tokyo from
8th to 13th May 2008

Tokyo, Japan - From 8 to
13 May, the APC Games Liaison Committee meeting was held between
the Asian Paralympic Committee (APC) and the Pre Organizing
Committee of the 2009 Asian Youth Para Games. City of Tokyo
is the only city to bid for the Games.
A five-member delegation
from the APC spent four days in Tokyo, Japan for an evaluation
and inspection of the venues and also meet with several Pre
Organizing Committee members to discuss several areas and
looked closely at the progress made by the Pre Organizing
Committee. In various working group sessions, the APC received
a detailed report on the preparation progress from the Pre
organizing committee in areas such as structure, accomodation,
ceremonies, transport, venues, budget and etc.
"This meeting
was again a very good opportunity to discuss current planning.
We had productive and beneficial meetings and we are confident
that the Organizing Committee of the 2009 Asian Youth Para
Games will deliver an excellent Games in 2009" said APC
President, Dato' Zainal Abu Zarin. Furthermore, he added that
the official announcement with regards to the awarding of
the Games will be done in early June. The official contract
signing ceremony is scheduled from 9th to 10 June 2008.
Highlights of the visit included a venue tour to key venues.
