ZAINAL WAS ELECTED AGAIN AS
THE PRESIDENT OF ASEAN PARA SPORTS FEDERATION FOR THE TERM
OF 2008-2011
Dato’ Zainal Abu Zarin was elected again as the President
of Asean Para Sports Federation (APSF) for the term of 2008-2011
in Korat, Thailand. APSF will move with even greater vigour
with each member playing a significant role in raising the
profile and status of paralympians in Asean. It is the vision
of the Asean Para Sports Federation (APSF) to establish the
status of paralympians in the region as being dynamic and
productive in contributing to society and nation building.
All members of the APSF share one vision, one mission and
one hope.
NEW
SECRETARY GENERAL OF APSF APPOINTED
Ms. Malini had been appointed as the Secretary General of
Asean Para Sports Federation (APSF) for the term of 2008-2011.
Currently, she is also the Secretary General of Asian Paralympic
Committee (APC)
THE 2010 GUANGZHOU 10TH ASIAN PARA GAMES
The Organizing Committee of 2010 Asian Para Games will be
sending a group of delegation for the IPC Observers Programme
for the Beijing Paralympic Games. The IPC Observers Programme
in Beijing 2008 will be the most extensive Paralympic Observers
Programme held so far.

NPC
FREIGHT QUESTIONNAIRE AND POLICY
BOCOG had provided all the National Paralympic Committees
updated information regarding NPC materials and equipment
being shipped to China for use during the 2008 Beijing Paralympic
Games. The information such as NPC Freight Questionnaire and
Policy, Village Logistics Service Schedule, Paralympic Village
Container Space Request Form and PLV Cargo Move-In Work Form
is supplemental to the policies provided in the BOCOG Customs
& Freight Manual and is intended to THE 2010 GUANGZHOU
10TH ASIAN PARA GAMES provide the latest information in regards
to NPC freight in order to help NPCs develop their plans for
shipping and storing equipment for the 2008 Beijing Paralympic
Games.
4TH
ASEAN PARA GAMES, NAKHON RATCHASIMA 2008 THAILAND
The Asean Para Sports Federation (APSF) is extremely delighted
with the overall organization of the 4th Asean Para Games
staged in Nakhon Ratchasima in Thailand from Jan 17-27. Thailand
as the hosts’, spared no efforts in ensuring that the
4th Asean Para games were staged to the highest standards
of organization and befitting an international event of this
stature.
SAILING
2008 IFDS International Regatta, Qingdao, China,
8-16 May 2008
The International Regatta for all Paralympic classes will
be held in Qingdao, China, 8-16 May 2008 at the Qingdao Olympic
Sailing Centre. The Notice of Race for this event has been
finalized and can be found on the event website. Further details
which include the Entry Form, Visa Form, Container Form, Arrival
and Departure Forms will be sent directly to RNA’s.
WHEELCHAIR
BASKETBALL
The International Wheelchair Basketball Federation released
the names of the International Technical Officials (ITO) which
have been invited to participate in the XIII Paralympic Games
in Beijing.
NPC
SINGAPORE
The Singapore Disability Sports Council (SDSC) would like
to extend invitation for the Singapore Boccia Invitational
Championship to all NPCs to participate in this championship
which will be held in Singapore in the month of July, 2008.
The first invitational championship was held in Singapore
in July 2007 and saw 4 countries participating, including
Japan, Malaysia, Hong Kong and Singapore.
IFDS
Disabled Sailing World Championship, 2008, Two-Person Keelboat,
20-28 March, Singapore
The IFDS Disabled Sailing World Championship, 2008, Two-Person
Keelboat will be held at the SAF Yacht Club - Changi, from
March 20-28 and will be organized by the Singapore Disability
Sports Council in conjunction with the Singapore Sailing Federation.

Korea Badminton Association for the Disabled will be hosting
the “Korea International Badminton Tournament for the
Disabled 2008 from 08 July to 11 July 2008 in Seoul, Korea.
Beijing
2008 Paralympic Games IPC Universality Wild Card Application
Form
The IPC has instituted a qualification slot allocation method
to uphold the Paralympic Programme Guiding Principles associated
with Universality. This slot allocation method is called the
IPC Universality Wild Card (UWC) system and is achieved on
a per invitation basis to eligible National Paralympic Committees
within eligible sports.
Changes
of the organizational structure of the IPC Management Team
Following the last Governing Board meeting which took place
on 9 February 2008 in Bonn, Germany, IPC had made a series
of changes to the organizational structure of the IPC Management
Team.

1st
WEST ASIA PARALYMPIC COUNCIL MEETING
West Asia representative, Mr. Naser Alajmi had successfully
concluded the 1st West Asia Paralympic Council meeting in
Kuwait on the 3rd February 2008 in NPC Kuwait. The following
members have been elected and appointed for the following
positions.
APC
had sent out the registration form for the Asian Women Leadership
summit to be held in Kuala Lumpur from 1st to 3rd May 2008.
All the 40 Asian NPCs are invited to send participants for
the Asian Women Summit.
