of competition in the Guangzhou 2010 Asian Para Games to take
their overall medal tally to 244, 118 of which are gold.

16.12.2010 - Despite
terrible weather conditions at the Aoti Main Stadium six athletes
still managed to break Asian records whilst China dominated
proceedings winning 17 gold medals.
On the track records
were set in the Women’s 100 T13 by Japan’s Uran
Sawada (13.28 seconds), China’s Xiong Dezhi in the Women’s
100m T38 (14.82) and Thailand’s Kitsana Jorchuy in the
Men’s 200m T11 (24.08)

President Praises China’s ‘Unwavering Support’
at Spectacular Open Ceremony

a speech to mark the official opening of the 2010 Asian Para
Games in Guangzhou, China, the President of the Asian Paralympic
Committee (APC) Dato’ Zainal Abu Zarin has described
China’s support of the Paralympic Movement as ‘unwavering’.
A capacity crowd
inside the Aoti Main Stadium, as well as potentially over
a billion TV viewers around the world, witnessed the spectacular
Opening Ceremony which involved over 4,500 performers, 200
of which had a disability and was attended by Sir Philip Craven,
the International Paralympic Committee President.
