Newly-appointed APC Executive Board meets in Beijing

The newly-appointed Executive Board of the Asian Paralympic Committee (APC) met for the first time in Beijing, China on March 21 and 22, 2024 with the focus on the upcoming Tashkent 2025 Asian Youth Para Games and Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Para Games.

The 33rd meeting, which was opened by APC President Majid Rashed, also discussed on the new Strategic Plan 2024-2027 as well as updates from various Standing Committees and Sub-regional representatives.

Welcoming the new Board in their first official meeting after their appointment, Rashed said:

“2023 was a remarkable year for the entire Asian family – the Hangzhou Asian Para Games were the best ever. And we aim to continue the level with the same dedication and commitment. There were challenges too but together we made it a year to remember. And as we look ahead, I hope we can create the same magic again with your support and expertise, to give our athletes the best opportunities and platform to grow on and off the field.

“With the new Board, which has several new members and some extending their term, I am very much looking forward of having another fruitful year making progress towards an inclusive Asia. “The APC family is very thankful to the NPC China and China Disabled Persons’ Federation for their kind support and co-operation and for hosting us here. We feel like home here,” said Rashed,

Meanwhile, Mr. You Liang, vice-president of the executive board of the China Disabled Persons’ Federation welcomed the new APC Board in Beijing, which marks the beginning of their four-year tenure.

Presentations on the upcoming Paris 2024 Paralympic Games and updates on futures Games – Doha 2030 and Riyadh 2034 Asian Para Games were also part of the agenda.

The Board also met with NPC China and China Disabled Persons’ Federation to discuss a few important matters.

The EB meeting was followed by side events including venue tour where the APC delegation interacted with Chinese athletes preparing for Paris 2024 Paralympic Games in their training camps at the China Administration of Sport for persons with Disabilities. The Board members also visited the National Alpine Skiing Center and Beijing Olympic/ Paralympic Museum.
