NSSU holds 2nd Coaching Workshop

By : APC Media
Date : October 20, 2018

The Nippon Sport Science University (NSSU) with the support of the Asian Paralympic Committee (APC) successfully held its second coaching workshop in Jakarta, amid the Indonesia 2018 Asian Para Games.

As many as 14 coaches and NPC officials from Brunei, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Maldives and Nepal attended the workshop, which had two objectives: Identify their own personal or organisational challenges in relating to participating in Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games and then to identify the key steps to overcome those challenges.

The workshop, which was designed in two sections: tactics for promoting para sports and coaching skills, was facilitated by Mr. Chris Nunn (OPC Para Athletic Coach Mentor) and Mr. Piotr Marek (Proud Paralympian Leader and Manager of the Coaching Academy at National Research Institute in Poland) who led the sessions and shared their knowledge based on experiences.

The APC also held discussions with delegates from Bangladesh and the Maldives who are aiming to form National Paralympic Committees within their countries.

APC CEO Mr. Tarek Souei also attended the workshop and was happy to see the dedication of these nations to promote the Paralympic Movement in their countries.

This is a great moment for all of us. And I am very pleased to see the dedication, commitment and achievement of the NPCs here, especially Bhutan, who took part at the Asian Para Games for the first ever time. I am keen to support these nations and help them according to their needs. A regular communication with APC will be one of the things we need to maintain from now on,

Mr. Souei said.
