Asian Paralympic Committee announce new sub-regional representatives.

The Asian Paralympic Committee (APC) today announced the five sub-regional representatives who will sit on the APC’s Executive Board from 2019 – 2022.

The representatives were elected by their respective sub-regions following a process that commenced at the start of the summer. Their role is to co-ordinate activities and report on developments in their sub-region to the APC Executive Board.

The successful candidates are as follows:

East AsiaMr. Also Manabu (JPN)
Central AsiaMr. Rustam Babayev (KAZ)
West AsiaMr. Abdelrazzaq Banirasheed (UAE)
South AsiaMr. Imran Shami (PAK)
South East AsiaMr. Micheal Barredo (PHI)

Aso Manabu has previously served on the Executive Board as Chair of the Games Liaison Committee. He will replace Ms. Zhao Su-jing from China who did not stand for re-election.

The other four members were all successfully re-elected into their posts.

Mr. Tarek Souei, CEO of APC said:

I am pleased to announce the sub-regional representatives who will serve the APC for the next term and would like to congratulate them on their appointment. The process for nomination and election was thorough, open and transparent and I thank all our sub-regions for actively taking part and electing the representative who will ensure their voice is heard by our Executive Board.

Elections for the positions of President, 2 x Vice Presidents, Chair of the Women in Sport Committee and 2 x Members at Large will take place at the APC’s General Assembly in Dubai in February.
